Papa’s How To Write: No Bull

In his book Blog Marketing, under the heading “Write Often”, Jeremy Wright says:
“Writing often isn’t just good for the blog. It’s an absolute requirement for success. Anything less than once a day (during weekdays) is abandoning the potential of your blog.”
For bloggers who just love writing, that’s no biggie. For others, and I’m thinking especially […]

M Scoble and R Scoble Presentation on 15 Ways to a Killer Blog

It’s slightly confusing. The presentation at Blog Business Summit on Ways to a Killer Blog, by Maryam Scoble and Robert Scoble, about which I posted a few days ago, was billed as 10 Ways, but as their slide presentation shows, they provided 15.
I’m not complaining :)
Great use of Gaping Void cartoons. Hard to choose a […]

Blog Business Summit on Guidelines

I really must get to the next Blog Business Summit. I used to think it was great to be able to follow an event like this from afar, from those blogging the event, but reading some of the blog posts I feel I am only getting the barest of insights into what’s going on. So […]

How Blog Comments Can Be Good For Business

Blogging evangelists like me have no problem in telling business owners that comments on blogs can provide valuable information from the market. But there are risks.
It’s important that business owners who are establishing a blog understand that, while most blogs provide for readers to leave comments, there is no rule that says they have […]

Combining Business Blogging and Good Coffee

I don’t always get a good coffee when I go out for one, but I do make sure I don’t go back to places where I can’t be sure of consistently good - make that excellent - coffee.

So far I haven’t taken the laptop to the coffee shop to blog while I sip, but my colleague, the multi-blogging Robyn Tippins, has evidently got it down to a fine art: see Officeless Workers and How I Blog.

Gerry McGovern Has a Bet Each Way on Business Blogging

I was intrigued to read Stephan Spencer’s Business Blog Consulting post on web guru Gerry McGovern’s ambivalent feelings about business blogging.
Gerry McGovern, for the benefit of those unfamiliar with him or his work, traverses the globe explaining to corporate, not-for-profit and government audiences what makes websites work and what doesn’t. In a world of people […]

Business Blogging is Not Easy

There is no doubt that it’s easy to set up a blog.

Setting up a blog so that it’s fully integrated with your overall business strategy, then developing it as part of your business and managing it in a businesslike way is another story.

Your Business Blog Does Not Have to be About Your Business

One of the things that seems to hold some business owners back from blogging is a fear that they won’t be able to sustain a flow of content about their business.
Or they are concerned that if they write a lot about their business, in the sense of writing about their own company, they will be […]
