BlogHer Business in NYC Less Than a Month Away Now
Just from looking at the list of speakers and their credentials, I know there will be some serious downloading of up to date information and lots of sparking of ideas at the first BlogHer Business event in New York City, March 22-23. BlogHer Business is a spinoff from the hugely successful BlogHer conferences held over the past couple of years.
I mentioned the conference in a post here back in December. There is now a lot more information available, and the story is impressive.
My friends and colleagues Toby Bloomberg and Shirley Frazier are among the speakers. Also Bambi Francisco, who as a senior columnist at DowJones Marketwatch covers Internet trends and investments. With a readership estimated at around 400,000, Bambi has quite a reach - I sift a lot of stuff out of my email with the delete button, but never Bambi’s stories.
Washingtonpost.com is also on my daily email delivery - not everything I read is about blogging and one of my interests is global politics - and I note that one of the speakers is Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive CEO and publisher Caroline H. Little. And there are others, well known bloggers and other women with formidable experience and what I would call positions with evident leverage potential. My hunch is that it will be a power networking event - afer all, it is being held in New York.
The event has been designed to attract the following, pretty broad group:
-Entrepreneurs, consultants and small business owners
-Media and publishing houses
-Communications department, ad agency and P.R. firm representatives
-Corporate executives across functional areas
It’s good to note too that the organisers are emphasising that the event will be geared and managed to enable participants to download really practical information that they can take away and put immediately into practice.
And this would seem to me to be an excellent conference not only for women in business who want to use blogging more effectively, or simply to be able to keep track of what is happening and what’s on the horizon, but also for men who want their companies’ blogs to be read and subscribed to by more than 50% of the blog reading public.
Yes, there have been men at the BlogHer conferences and men are evidently welcome at the BlogHer Business event.
