BlogHer in Second Life, July ‘07
I don’t know whether it’s a first for blogging conferences, but the ever-innovative people at BlogHer have arranged, in tandem with their BlogHer ‘07 - “A World of Difference” conference in Chicago this July, a virtual world BlogHer in Second Life.
This should be a boon for those who can’t make it to Chicago and are already in Second Life or willing to give it a go.
And from the writeup on the BlogHer site, it looks like being both an informative and fun event:
BlogHer in Second Life will offer the opportunity to experience the Chicago conference live on a virtual platform, complete with general sessions, audio feeds, and even a virtual cocktail party! Similar to BlogHer ‘07 in Chicago, the BlogHer Second Life virtual conference will feature an interactive format designed to inspire discussion.
The Second Life edition of BlogHer is being organised by the person whose SL avatar is Queen Tureaud. The BlogHer post about the event connects Queen Tureaud with a First Life identity and provides detailed information about how to line up for the SL event, including how to access some training for the SL experience.
Registration is free, as is basic membership of Second Life.
By the way, BlogHer, whose tagline is “where the women bloggers are”, does welcome a diverse membership audience, even men :). As far as I know, that’s the policy also for the SL conference.
I’m sure we’ll see more such events.

Des are you planning to attend through SL? I just discovered this virtual world through an article on a virtual job fair. I just blogged about SL. I am some whaat intrigued by the whole thing. Let me know what you are planning. I may join you on the virtual platform.
