Business Blogging Ethics - Get Free Articles without Stealing
As I promised the other day, I’d like to share how you can legally obtain high quality articles for your blog without writing them yourself.
There are several instances in which this might be helpful for your blog.
- lack of time - you are overloaded with other work but still want to update your blog
- lack of knowledge - there is a certain topic you want to include in your blog but you are not (yet) an expert in that area
- lack of inspiration - you feel like your writing might be getting a bit stale and want to inject another voice in the mix
One source of articles that you can use is ezinearticles. The articles posted on this site are intended to be re-published in blogs, newsletters, websites, etc. The authors encourage you to use their articles, as long as you include the biographical information included at the end of the article.
This is a win:win situation. You get free posts and they get increased exposure and recognition.
As an example, I took a quick look at articles on keeping birds as pets. Any of the following articles might be relevant to a blog run by a veterinarian, pet store owner, pet sitter, etc.
- Training Your Pet Parrot
- Bird Toy Safety Every Parrot Owner Should Know
- The Online Video Site for Parrot Owners
There are only two cautions I would make in using these articles:
- Review the articles for accuracy and writing skills. This is your blog and the content you choose reflects on you even if you didn’t write it. Be sure the articles you choose meet the standards you have already set in your blog.
- Use these articles sparingly. Unless your blogging strategy is to simply round up articles written by others, I suggest using high quality articles only when you feel there is a compelling need - a truly great article or a real time emergency.
So, tell me about your use of articles - have you ever done it? How has it worked for you?
