Business Blogging Tips Project Revisited
(www.businessandblogging.com) Last week when I experimented by asking for business blog tips on Twitter I overlooked one fact. My Facebook account is linked to Twitter. When I tweet my tweets are automatically broadcast on Facebook.
I had forgotten this fact when I wrote last week’s post. I’m only an occasional Facebook user, so I failed to look on Facebook for answers to my Twitter query for business blog tips.
That was a mistake!
I missed finding a good tip and as a consequence failed to share it with you.
It turns out that Monica Flores who blogs at SistersInBiz and A Successful Woman had posted an answer to my question on my Facebook wall. Her tip was a good one, so I thought I’d share it with you today.
From Monica:
“My top tip is to explain the basics of your profession and where your products and services ‘fit in.’ So for example, for my profession of web development, there are four main pieces: a domain name, a hosting package, the files (like graphics and text pages, or a blog installation), and then the content that our clients are sharing on the site. There is also an additional consideration of maintenance: how will someone keep the content updated or timely?
So for us, where we come in is we design the site, install it, and “seed it” with the initial content, and we’ve developed administrative tools so our customers may update their own content. This helps the typical businessperson because they can focus on getting someone internal to update their content, instead of getting locked into a long-term maintenance agreement with an outside firm. With a CMS or content management system, our clients have the freedom to post their own calendar, lists, forms, uploaded graphics, or pages.”
Thanks Monica for that great insight!
By the way, for those of you who wanted to follow me on Twitter I’m TXWriter.
