Business Blogging: What Is It?
![]() |
As cohost of a blog called Business and Blogging, you’d think that I wouldn’t need to ask that question.
In fact, I probably wouldn’t have thought of this question at all if I hadn’t run across this post called Business Blogging vs Corporate Blogging over at the Direct Traffic Media blog (which is itself a business blog). I would have just assumed that I knew what business blogging was.
The blogger at the Direct Traffic Media blog defines corporate blogging as a subset of business blogging. The Direct Traffic Media blogger says, “Corporate Blogging is merely a small portion of Business Blogging.”
I agree.
The two terms are related, but not necessarily synonymous. For one thing, not all businesses are corporations. Businesses come in many sizes and shapes. Some businesses are sole proprietorships. Other businesses are partnerships. Still others are family-owned businesses. The variety of businesses that I could list here goes on and on …
Business blogging means using a blog for business purposes. Some of the business purposes that blog can be used for include (but are not limited to):
- Public relations
- Communication
- Marketing
- Sales
- Relationship building
- Branding
Here at Business and Blogging Liz and I will take a look at all of these purposes for a business blog and more. We’ll take a look at corporate blogging and find out what works and what doesn’t. We’ll also take you step by step through the process of building a business blog - examining the challenges and looking for the best solutions. We’ll answer your questions and look for your feedback.
Most of all, we’ll help you understand what business blogging is and how your business can benefit from it.
