Coffee Break

by Liz Fuller on March 9th, 2008

coffee11.jpg(www.businessandblogging.com) Welcome to this week’s Coffee Break. Feel free to pour yourself a cup of  de-caf because there’s enough of an adrenaline kick in these articles alone to give a jumpstart to your week!

I’ve rounded up a collection of articles that remind you that your business doesn’t just need a blog - it needs  a blog that helps you standout in an increasing sea of competition.  And these articles tell you just how to do it!

First, in a guest post on Problogger, Andy Beal relates 5 Blogging Rules to Make a Great First Impression.  I love his analogy of blogging to dating - this article might just improve your love life as well as your blog life!

Next,  Blog2Biz reminds us that It’s a Blog Not a Sales Letter. The article provides 5 topics your business can blog about without hitting your readers over the head with a sales hammer.

This fascinating article by Marco Greenberg at Haaretz.com gives advice to new blogger, and Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert.  The critique of Olmert’s new blog gives solid advice applicable to any CEO, small business owner, (or head of state) who is considering writing his or her own blog.

Be sure to read this interview with Richard Brewer-Hay, new inhouse blogger from ebay from Fortune Small Business. eBay will be launching a new blog  next month in which Richard claims he’ll discuss a full range of topics about eBay, and hopefully dispel the perception that eBay doesn’t respond to the concerns of its sellers.

(note: businessandblogging will be watching closely for this new blog to appear and will give you an update as to whether it is living up to its hype!)

And last, because once again Easton Ellsworth at Business BlogWire has come up with a title I just couldn’t resist, is the insightful post, Why are Most Business Blogs Lamer than a Two-Legged Dog?

Hope you enjoyed this coffee break - I know I did.  Until Next Week!!
