Combining Business Blogging and Good Coffee
I don’t always get a good coffee when I go out for one, but I do make sure I don’t go back to places where I can’t be sure of consistently good - make that excellent - coffee.
So far I haven’t taken the laptop to the coffee shop to blog while I sip, but my colleague, the multi-blogging Robyn Tippins, has evidently got it down to a fine art: see Officeless Workers and How I Blog.
And I’m seeing more coffee shops locally offering wireless connectivity. So I’m thinking I should add that to my requirements for the coffee establishments I frequent. Because the idea of blogging from the cafe is quite appealing.
For us business owners who work for ourselves, not tied to someone else’s office or time schedule, combining a coffee break with some blog posting could be a very congenial way to make sure we do our business blogging on a regular basis.
And those who work for others and have corporate blogging responsibilities could point to Robyn’s blog post to show their employer what a smart idea it would be to encourage them to head off for some caffeine-stimulated blogging!

Schedules… I’m a stickler for organizing my time. The plus is that:
1. You get served great coffee
2. You are virtually uninterrupted
3. Clean workspace
4. You’re treating yourself so you are happy
5. I don’t know, but you have to have 5 in a list, don’t you? ;)
Thanks for the link man (and I look fwd to sharing your secret soon)

To me a cafe without WiFi is like a conference without power bars (or WiFi). While I don’t often go laptop at my side to a cafe (I make awesome coffee at home and the idea if driving to pay for coffee just to blog doesn’t appeal to me), when I’m off Island and with laptop, I only go to cafes with WiFi.
Just like Robyn said, it’s a great place to get some stuff done. And, btw, a great place to record and informal chat type podcast.
