Business Blogging Tip Number 4: Be Conversational

fourTip: Be conversational.

One of the biggest mistakes that business bloggers make is “dumping” sales and marketing literature onto their blogs.

While it may seem like an easy thing to do (after all, you’ve already got that sales and marketing literature written), dumping your marketing materials onto the web is the entirely wrong approach to business blogging.

Blogging, even business blogging, is about conversation. Your blog posts should be conversational in tone.

Why it’s important: Blogging is your big chance to engage your customers in conversation.

Besides, using your marketing material as blog posts could actually turn off the very customers and prospective customers that you are trying to engage. If your audience really wants to read your marketing material, they’ll contact a sales person (or you can post it on your static website.)
