Love and Blogging
Blogging can be fun, especially if you like sharing information and your opinions with others.
For some of us, it can also be a drag at times. What will I post about today? Hasn’t everyone covered that topic? Didn’t I write something about that six months ago?
You need to love it. If not at the beginning, then eventually. And I believe that if you love your business - which is a good idea - you can learn to love blogging to help your business grow.
This post is my contribution to a group effort for Valentine’s Day, with my colleagues in the Business Channel on b5media - to check out the other blogs just click on the Business category under heading More Blogs from b5media, in the sidebar.
The idea/challenge was for each of us to post something about love, or passion.
At times like this, I look for a story to tell, either one of mine or someone else’s which I feel I can relate to.
One of the most thought-provoking and inspiring stories about love in the context of business, and with a strong IT/online context and therefore by a rather tenuous but I believe reasonable connection to business blogging, is the story - or set of stories - told by legendary Apple Computer CEO, Steve Jobs, in his Commencement address at Stanford University in June 2005.
You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.
And here’s the thing. If you love your blogging, it will show. And other bloggers will link to you.
We call it ‘link love’.

[…] Des Walsh reminds us that you better love blogging if you’re going to do it otherwise it will show and reflect poorly on you and your business. […]
