New Page for Blogging Events

by Des Walsh on December 28th, 2006

There may be a listing somewhere of conferences and other events about blogging or with a significant component of their program about blogging and if there is one I’d like to know about it.

Searching for information about blogging events has proven a bit of a time-consumer: plenty of links to past events, not many to events planned for the future.

In the meantime, I’ve started to put together a list of such events as a simple table, listing the name of the event, the location and the url. I’ll update the list as I learn of more events.

It’s at this page (not a blog post) and there is a link to the page in the right sidebar under the heading Resources.

Suggestions for events suitable for listing can be left via a comment on this post or by email to me at the address:

businessandblogging(at)gmail(dot)com

The criteria for inclusion are basically that the event is about blogging, preferably with a business emphasis, or has a significant component of potential interest under the heading of the “blogging of business” . I’m hoping this will be a useful resource. I’m hoping also it will be international.

    Blogging Events List…

There are some blogging events which are quite well publicized in advance, such as the Blog Business Summit and BlogHer……

    Nice idea, Des.

Maybe each time you add to it, you do a little post here so we’re alerted.

The preference would be a special rss feed to keep up - but not sure if/how one would do that for a single page.

Great suggestions, Martin. Doing a post each time I add an entry is easy. Yes, a special rss feed would be good and no, I don’t know how to do that for a single page.

Thanks Graham. I’m sure that for people who want to make money directly from blogging there will be a lot to learn from your workshop, which is great. However, as I tried to point out in the post above, my focus for this new list, and indeed for this blog, is more about what I call the blogging of business than about tbe business of blogging. So just for now at least I want to keep the list focused on events that business owners and those who are advising or supporting them might find valuable. That would include events which are have a broader scope but have in part a clear focus on how business generally can use blogs more effectively. But all the best for your workshop!

I have added a feed link on the page. Not totally satisfactory as it comes up in my feed reader as “Business and Blogging”, not as “Business and Blogging - Events”, or some such, so could be confusing. Link is made by adding “feed” to the permalink, thusly - http://businessandblogging.com/blogging-events/feed
