Quality Blogging Forum Shifts to Facebook

by Des Walsh on July 20th, 2007

One of the casualties of the imminent closing of the Soflow social networking site is the excellent Blog Buzz forum there, managed by Jim Turner of One by One Media.

The membership includes a high proportion of very successful, well-known bloggers. The quality of discussion has always been high.

It would have been a pity if Blog Buzz were to have disappeared with the Soflow platform. I know from my experience of the LinkedIn Bloggers group, of which I am a moderator, that new bloggers and even seasoned ones find a group like this really helpful for getting information, advice and feedback in the dynamic and “challengeable” context of a discussion forum.

Fortunately, Jim has decided to re-establish Blog Buzz on the social networking site du jour, Facebook.

In his post The Death and Perhaps Destruction of a Social Network: a Sad but True Story Jim explains his decision and provides a link to the group in its new home.

Many advertisers, marketers and PR people were able to enter into the forum and ask simple questions, difficult questions, and ask for suggestions on growing a blog readership, what platforms were available and what blogs could do and what they were capable of accomplishing. I decided it was important enough of a group to migrate it over and make it a Facebook Group.

The membership of the newly-located group is not yet as large as the old group on Soflow. Hopefully the group will re-generate rapidly and I for one will be interested to see how the Facebook platform works out as the base for a discussion group.

I appreciate the link to my efforts to breathe life back into Blog Buzz. All of your readers should join the group and join in the conversations already taking place over there. Let’s talk blogging!
